What if your dog doesn’t respond to food at an incentive in training?

The first thing you can do is try and do different things with the food like heat it up or cool it down. Even adding water makes a difference.

A second option is to use other pet treats as rewards.

A third option is to reduce how much you feed them at meal time and set that food aside for treats. If they are full there is no reason for them to respond to food as treats and rewards.

A fourth option would be using people food like peanut butter.

If all else fails try using other rewards like a toy, a game or even love and attention. Dogs live for affection so this is the best reward in their world.
