When you get a new puppy or dog and introduce them to your home there are some precautions you may want to take.

New puppies are curious and are often teething.  Put shoes, especially leather shoes in your closet and close the door. It’s good to give your new puppy a raw hide to chew on so they learn what is good to chew on and what is bad.

Home work, books and paper are another attraction for new puppies to chew on.

Clothes with you scent are a draw for new puppies to chew on.

Garbage and wastebaskets are best if they are in a cabinet or have a cover.

Bathroom and cleaning supplies need to be locked in a cabinet.

Its good to shut doors to parts of the home you want to restrict the pet too. Like closing off bedrooms and bathrooms or carpeted areas.

Crate training is a great option for when you leave the home. Feeding your pet in their crate, putting clothes with your scent in their crate and giving them treats and rewards for going into the crate help them to make the crate a safe and desired place to spend time.
