Sometimes potty training goes easy… and other times not so much. Every pet is different.

Basics to get started – Pick a name for #1 and #2 and use it consistently, every time your pet goes #1 or #2 with a reward. Let them get to recognize the name. This will pay off when they are able to go on command.

At home take them to the same place every time. This place will have similar smells and they will associate it with going potty.

Be consistent with timing. For example taking them out the first thing when you wake up, the last thing before you go to sleep, the first thing when you get home, before you feed them. That way they know when to expect to go and can hold it.

Do not punish them for having an accident. They want to please you and some learn faster or slower than others. The best thing is to catch them in the act and take them outside to their similar pace to go. Reward them for finishing outside. That way they will not be afraid of going.

Consistency and rewards are the key.
