When you first get a puppy, puppy play is vital. Puppy play builds a bond with your and your new pet. More importantly it sets standards moving forward. Standards of rules, enforcement and how you train and communicate with your puppy.  Once you teach them a trick using a specific format, like rewarding with treats for good behavior, it’s easier to teach more complicated tricks using the same format. If they get out of habit, you can go back to the same format and they will pick things back up easier and quicker.

So pick a form of play / training and stick with it.  As you grow to new tricks or trainings repeat and stay consistant.
