Why are distractions important with dog training?
Our staff uses “sit” as a primary training tool. We do it often and make it routine. We want to have the pet do it, without a treat and have the pet sit still and maintain eye contact. Once we get sit down we can use it as a distraction. So if we are walking a dog and they bark at other dogs, people, cars, etc. we can use “sit” to distract them from whatever they are focused on. If they are getting into something bad, like eating mulch, we can use “sit” as a mechanism to get them to stop. If they are barking we can use “sit” as a distraction.
Sit can be a great foundation for other training. Contact us to learn more.
