Do you have issues with your dog pulling, being distracted or barking and being agressive to other dogs or people?

Basic training has the foundation of repetition. What we do with our clients and suggest is to bring treats and create a distraction. Like sit as a command is a great distraction. You can practice this in your home before a walk. Once you get sit, try and work on eye contact. Having your pet look at you for the next command.

When you are on a walk, when there are no distractions, randomly give the command sit and reward them with a treat. Then as there are distractions, give them the command with the reward. If you like, you can create distractions, like taking them for a walk at the local art fair.

Repetition is key. Even when they are trained, keep repeating over and over again.

Of course, this is basic training and there are often circumstances, past history and trauma, etc. that make it so this technique does not work. In those cases we suggest a more advanced training. Interview local trainers in your area and work with them. Each one has their own technique on how they correct behavior. We have had amazing results with some trainers and poor results with others. So make sure you go through the interview process and bring your dog if possible to see how they interact with your pet.
